General Info

Nestled at 4710 Market St in San Diego, Kin Saep is one of those places you stumble upon and instantly decide you’re coming back. This Thai restaurant has a relaxed, casual vibe that makes it easy to settle in, skim through the menu, and get excited about what’s coming. What stood out to me right away was how welcoming the space felt. Families with kids were eating comfortably, and I even noticed they offer a wheelchair accessible parking lot and restroom, which says a lot about how thoughtful the place is toward every guest.

As soon as the food started coming out, the experience went from good to unforgettable. I kicked things off with their Spring Roll, a simple dish done really well-crispy outside, fresh inside, and packed with flavor. From there, the meal just kept getting better. Their House Fried Rice has that warm, comforting feel you hope for, perfectly balanced so it’s flavorful but not heavy. It’s the kind of dish you eat a few bites of and immediately think, “Yep, I’m ordering this again.”

For something bolder, the Beef Jerky was a pleasant surprise. It’s tender, slightly smoky, and perfect for sharing. I paired it with the Shrimp Paste, which added a salty richness that leveled up every bite. And if you love something with a little kick, their Lao Style Spicy Papaya Salad hits just right-fresh, crunchy, and spicy in a way that wakes up your taste buds without going overboard. It’s the kind of dish that makes you understand why people leave glowing reviews.

Even with all the savory flavors, I appreciated that Kin Saep offers dessert options too. After a meal with that much personality, finishing with something sweet feels like the right move. The staff keeps things friendly and efficient, creating a smooth dining experience whether you’re dining in or grabbing food to go.

What really makes Kin Saep stand out is how everything-from the food to the service to the atmosphere-comes together naturally. It’s casual enough for a quick bite but flavorful enough to remember long after you leave. If you’re exploring new locations for great Thai food in San Diego, this spot deserves a place on your list.

What customers say?

“ Kin Saep is legit the best Thai food in town! We went on vacation for 9 days in San Diego. I had pork belly plate, and my fiancée enjoyed some pad Thai with crispy chicken. Portions are large, prices are very affordable. We were left with full stomachs and a large amount of leftovers for the next day! Would highly recommend! The owner is a lovely sweet mother who named the restaurant after her son. Also the sugarcane drink was delicious! ”

“ No frills just really good food, your hole in the wall restaurant. One of the best pad Thais I’ve had, the noodles were saucy and bouncy. Service was quick, appears to receive more to go orders. I would go back and I’d feel comfortable enough to eat alone there (during the day)! The area outside seemed a little questionable. Lots of parking available. Their sugarcane juice was soo good clean and refreshing . Really appreciated the guy for using good hygiene for food handling *did not ask about Celiac/gf accomodations ”

“ The food here is super legit! High quality Thai food that tatses like home cooking. They even have some dishes not many other Thai restaurants typically offer in SD and I recommend trying various dishes you may have not tried before. Amazing vegetarian options that don't skimp out in flavor and are just as delicious as meat dishes! Reasonable prices, generous portions, and quick and friendly service. ”

“ Hole in the wall Thai Laotian and very nice owner. Definitely recommend. Delicious food. Aroy Mak! ”

“ I've only ordered for delivery or pick up, their food is so delicious, I have cravings for it! I've ordered the Crispy Mango Chicken with rice several times, and the Pad Sew Ew Shrimp (and also with chicken. The Crispy Mango Chicken is truly crispy, and perfect, you can order mildly spicy, spicy or non-spicy, I've had it all, it's dreamy! Pad Sew Ew is a favorite Thai dish, and they never go wrong. The customer service is always pleasant. Highly recommend and will keep going back. ”

“ The Thai Ice tea was incredible! They have fresh sugar cane a d a machine to juice it too. The golden chicken wings were absolutely delicious and just like in Southeast Asia, very authentic. I will be back! ”

“ First time ordering from Kin Saep which is down the street from work. Had the shrimp spring rolls and tom kha soup with chicken. Decent portions. Very fresh. Very tasty this is a tiny little bit of local eatery in an unassuming area. Just my humble opinion but it’s delicious so I will be back. ”

“ What a hole in the wall, I saw the reviews and I wanted to try the food. It looks delicious. I almost missed the turn with my GPS, it’s a little hidden. At first I thought it was closed and I was about to change my mind, but the open light sign was on. The servers were very attentive. The food very tasty. I definitely recommend trying it. ”
